In-Person Paint Consult

  • Every project we take on starts with a personalized, in-home consultation and estimate, so that we can get to know you and understand the vision you have for your home.

  • Upon scheduling your in-person consultation, we will confirm details within 24 hours. A member of our team will meet with you to do a walk-through of your home, the rooms / surfaces to be painted, and understand your intended usage of the space. 

    We will also discuss paint colors, required repairs or prep work, and other factors impacting project cost and timeline.

Digital Consult

  • The Digital Design Consult is a more flexible, remote option designed to tackle single-room design projects such as color consultation and selection, product recommendations, and paint-related design inquiries. Intended for smaller and one-off projects, our Digital option does not include any in-person work or in-home / onsite consultation.

Our Process

01. Client Consultation

Your project begins with scheduling an in-person, in-home consultation to scope the work, discuss timeline, and understand your needs. 

02. Proposal & Estimate

Following the onsite consultation, we will send you a detailed Project Proposal & Estimate outlining scope, timeline, and cost within 1 business day.

03. Contract & Deposit

Upon acceptance of the proposal, a signed agreement and deposit of 50% of project cost is required to schedule your start date.

04. Pre-Arrival

We will call you the day before your project is set to begin to confirm details and let you know what to expect. 

05. On-Site Work

Our crew typically arrives by 9am each day to set up, prep the workspace, and begin the work. We take care of moving furniture items, applying protective coverings to all surfaces, and cleaning up at the end of the workday.

06. Post-Project Review

Once the work is completed, we will conduct a post-project quality call to ensure you are satisfied with our service.

What to Know

  • We specialize in premium interior residential painting and color consultation services for apartment units, condos / co-ops, houses, and other small spaces. Our clients include new and long-time homeowners, renters, and landlords in the New York City area. 

    Our Digital Design Consultation is available to clients anywhere in the US. 

    For Full-Service Interior Painting, we currently serve residential clients throughout South Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, including Gowanus / Park Slope / Sunset Park / Bay Ridge / Windsor Terrace/Kensington / Ditmas, Lower East Side, East Village, and Financial District.

  • We paint interior elements including walls, ceilings, doors, windows, molding and trim. We can remove old paint, fix cosmetic issues such as bumps, holes, and patchy surfaces, and apply paint or stain to wood surfaces. 


    The extent of repairs we offer depends upon the scope of damage. We will review any necessary repairs during the onsite estimation to ensure we provide an accurate picture of cost and timeline.

  • We are a White Glove premium painting service, which means we manage every detail of the process with an exceptional level of care and detail. From your initial inquiry to your in-person consultation, project estimate, contract, and day-of service, we walk you through each step so you know what to expect and have a direct point of contact for any questions or concerns. A typical project involves:

    1) Scheduling and completion of your in-person consultation and estimate

    We charge $149 for onsite visits, which will be applied towards the project cost if you decide to move forward. 

    2) Receipt of project proposal outlining scope, timeline, and cost within 24 hours

    3) Signed agreement with 50% project fee down

    4) Confirmation and check-in call day before your project is set to begin

    5) On the day-of, our crew will arrive onsite around 9am and leave by 5pm. The space will be prepped with protective materials daily, furniture items moved as needed, and materials cleaned up at the end of each work day. 

    6) Following completion, we conduct a post-project quality assurance call, followed by a customer feedback survey via email

  • We’re pretty selective when it comes to the paints we choose. We work with partners who produce high-quality, environmentally-friendly products so you and your loved ones (including pets!) feel safe in your home. You’ll find a range of prices, so you can choose the right brand for your priorities, color preference, and budget.

  • No idea what color(s) you like? No problem. As part of our onboarding process, we consult individually with each client to select a color scheme, paint finish, and product that is best suited to the needs of your home and how you utilize the space. We prioritize sustainable, non-toxic, and zero / low VOC paint products that balance healthy indoor air quality with superior performance and results.

  • We offer comprehensive onsite painting services, as well as a digital consultation for smaller projects. To understand which option is best for you, consider factors such as your scope, budget, and level of painting skill. 

    Full Service / Premium Interior Painting is designed for larger-scale, onsite projects, starting with an in-person consultation and estimate, and includes comprehensive project management, daily site prep / cleanup, and execution of all related work. Following the onsite visit, you will receive an estimate within 24 hours detailing the scope, timeline, and cost of the project, with 50% required upfront to begin, and 50% charged upon completion.


    The Digital Design Consult is a more flexible, remote option designed to tackle single-room design projects such as color consultation and selection, product recommendations, and paint-related design inquiries. Designed for smaller and one-off projects, our Digital option does not include any in-person work or consultation. Payment is required in advance.

  • Undertone Interiors is certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Lead Paint Safety, and is a fully licensed and insured NYC Home Improvement Contractor.

  • The cost for interior painting projects will vary based on a several factors, including the scope of work, number of rooms / walls / ceilings involved, interior elements such as trim / windows / doors that need to be painted, the condition of your space and any necessary repairs (i.e. sanding, patching), quality and brand of paint, and overall timeline.

  • Onsite painting projects can last anywhere from 1-2 full days to more, depending upon the scope, number of rooms involved, required repairs, and other factors. A full timeline will be provided at time of estimate.

  • Dana is a lifelong interior design enthusiast with a background in fine art, business, and small space planning. Blending a refined eye for design and color with 20 years of client-facing business experience, she launched Undertone Interiors in 2023 with emphasis on premium, urban residential interior painting. 

    Understanding the impact of effective design has been a common thread throughout her career, from running a multimillion-dollar career content agency and consulting firm to her work as a recruiter with some of the world's top creative agencies. Whether it's crafting beautiful and functional spaces, artwork, or individual brands, Dana emphasizes that design is truly in the details - the small-yet-thoughtful decisions that create authentic and lasting impressions.

    Dana studied interior design at Pratt Institute in New York and received her bachelor’s in Communications and Visual Arts from Boston University. She is EPA-certified in Lead Paint Safety and a licensed New York City Home Improvement Contractor.
